Everyone will be talking about Mbappé versus Yamal. But before a ball is kicked, the numbers are already telling their own story — and there's a twist.

According to Transfermarkt data compiled by UOL Esporte, Lamine Yamal is the most valuable player in this semi-final: €200 million, equivalent to R$1.1 billion. Mbappé, France's marquee name, comes in behind him: €180 million, around R$1 billion. The Spanish teenager is worth more than his rival's superstar.

Combined, the two squads are valued at nearly R$16 billion. France, at €1.52 billion (R$8.8 billion), holds the edge on paper — and fields five players valued above €100 million: Mbappé, Dembélé, Olise, Doué, and defender Saliba. Spain, valued at €1.22 billion (R$7.1 billion), has just two names in that bracket: Yamal and Pedri, who is worth €150 million.

At the other end of the table, striker Borja Iglesias — a 33-year-old Spanish substitute who plays for Celta de Vigo — appears as the lowest-valued player in the tie at €2.8 million. On the French side, veteran N'Golo Kanté rounds out the list at around €4 million.

The Golmetria model sees Spain as the clear favourite: a 35% chance of lifting the trophy against France's 14%. The market points in the same direction.

Money doesn't take the field — but rarely has a World Cup semi-final concentrated this much talent into 90 minutes. Tomorrow at 4 p.m. (Brasília time), we find out what a goal is really worth.
